National Service Schemes

The National Service Scheme is an Indian government-sponsored public service program conducted by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports of the Government of India which was launched in Gandhiji's Centenary year in 1969. The Motto of NSS "Not Me But You", reflects the essence of democratic living and upholds the need for self-less service. NSS aims at developing social consciousness of the youth with an overall objective of personality development through community service. NSS enables students to participate in various programmes of social service and national development and to help the community. It helps the students development & appreciation to other person's point of view and also show consideration towards other living beings. The programme aims to inculcate social welfare in students and to provide service to society without bias.

Objectives of NSS

1. To work with/among people
2. To engage in creative and constructive social action.
3. To enhance his/her knowledge of himself/herself and the community.
4. To put his/her scholarship to practical use in mitigating at least some of the problems.
5. To gain skill in the exercise of democratic leadership.
6. To gain skills in programme development to enable him/her for self employment.
7. To bridge the gulf between the educated and the uneducated masses.
8. To promote the will to serve the weaker section of the community.


NSS in the College

The NSS unit of the college was established in 2016. From the beginning itself NSS unit of BMCCA is very active for conducting the social welfare programmes inside and outside the campus. Every year the college NSS unit observing and conducting various activities on World Environment day, International yoga day, Gandhi Jayanthi, World food day etc. Swachh Bharat Campaign, Save periyar Campaign, Blood donation camps, Flood relief activities are also the major activities of NSS unit. Our college NSS unit was selected as one among the five colleges under the university for Jaiva Karshaka samiti Award. The award was a recognition to the projects like organic farming, Thanalaakaam Thanalekaam project, Choondikkoru Pazhathottam etc initiated by the NSS unit. Under the initiative of NSS unit, our college was declared as plastic free campus. Another achievement is the establishment of NSS Endowment, a cash prize and certificate for a student from the third year on merit cum means basis.
